Centipede Hz è il terzo album in studio degli Animal Collective e segue il fortunatissimo Merriweather Post Pavillion del 2009 Centipede Hz è anche il primo disco, dopo Strawberry Jam del 2007, nel quale suonano tutti e quattro i membri originali della band: Avey Tare, Panda Bear, Geologist e Deakin E’ chiaro sin dall’apertura del disco, con il brano Moonjock, che il quartetto riformato ha creato la musica più ampia e realizzata della loro carriera Animal Collective: Avey Tare (vocals, synthesizers, piano, guitar, sampler, sequencer, percussion) Panda Bear (vocals, drums, sampler, percussion) Deakin (vocals, baritone guitar, sampler, percussion) Geologist (sampler, synthesizers, piano, percussion) Con: Dave Scher (Beachwood Sparks, All Night Radio) lap steel guitar ion ‘Today’s Supernatural’, ‘New Town Burnout’, ‘Pulleys’, e ‘Gotham’, e melodica su ‘Rosie Oh’ & Riverside Middle School Choir, che canta in ‘Father Time’ e ‘New Town Burnout’ Centipede Hz e stato co-prodotto da Animal Collective e Ben H Allen III e registrato a Sonic Ranch studios in Tornillo TX (fuori El Paso) a Gen - Feb 2012 da Ben H Allen III e mixato a Maze Studios ad Atlanta, GA da Ben H Allen III
